Eredivisie relegation battle 20

The Eredivisie is the highest echelon of football in the professional football league in the Netherlands. The Eredivisie was founded back in 1956, just two years after the commencement of professional football in the Netherlands. By the end of 2012 – 2013 season the Eredivisie was ranked the ninth best league in Europe by the Union of European Football Association (UEFA).

The top division consists of eighteen clubs. Each club meets every other club twice during the Eredivisie season and the club that will be at the bottom becomes automatically relegated to the second level of the Dutch league system, which is known as the EersteDivise (First Division).

AFC Ajax have won the most championships in the Eredivisie with an amazing 33 wins.

Being relegated is the worst feeling in sport and there are five Eredivisie teams all fighting to avoid that very fate.

Dordrecht have already fallen victim to the drop but there is still hope for Go Ahead Eagles, Breda, Heracles and Excelsior.

Form is everything at this time of year and Heracles are the team to back to avoid relegation, while it doesn’t look good for poor Go Ahead.

Bet on the Eredivisie today and join in with the glories and agonies that is the fight for survival.

And, if you support a club that is safe from relegation then be thankful — it’s cruel at the bottom!
